The Art of Becoming: The origin of Katie Lowran Art

Seven years ago, my life split open.

Not gently.
The kind of heartbreak that changes you—completely.

The Pull

A few months later, I was walking through my dining room when I heard it.

Clear. Direct.

“Katie, go and buy a tube of electric blue paint.”

I stopped.

“I don’t know how to paint… and I don’t even like the color blue.”

But it wasn’t a suggestion.
It was a summons.

Within hours, I was at Michael’s.

And I wasn’t wandering—I was being led.

Canvas.
Paint.
Charcoal.
Brushes.

One by one, I placed them in my cart without questioning it.

I went home… and I began.

The Fire

That first year, I painted 175 pieces.

Through the night.
Into the morning.
Then straight to work—carrying this quiet fire inside me.

This wasn’t about learning.

It was about this gift.
About something moving through me faster than I could understand.

The Opening

9 months later—my first solo exhibition.

People didn’t just look.
They felt.

And that’s when I knew—
this wasn’t just my soul that I was shaping and impacting.

The Becoming

Today, my work lives in homes across the country.

Each piece still comes from that same place—
instinct, emotion, and surrender.

Art designed to captivate the senses.
To hold something real.

The Jump

It was never about the paint.

It was about listening.
Trusting.
Saying yes—before it made sense.

I followed it—without understanding, without hesitation.

And it has been my passion ever since.

The Connection

If you’re here, something has already connected. Now you can take it further:
